5-STAR JUMPING “The Sixth Sense Challenge” – “That was truly wonderful sport. Today I simply enjoyed it, but tomorrow will certainly be a bit emotional for me”, said Serena Hamberg, indicative of her status as one of the great patrons of Austrian equestrian sport and sponsor of today’s CSI5* The Sixth Sense Challenge at the Vienna Masters. The name of the examination is telling, for tomorrow the Serena’s gelding “The Sixth Sense”, ridden by Thomas Frühmann, will be bid farewell from the sport.

But for now, back to today’s final competition of the Vienna Masters. Eleven of an initial 4s participating duos made it through to the jump-off with an error-free ground circuit in the world-rankings jump over 1.50 / 1.55m, with 35 000 Euros in prize money available. Finishing times were separated only by small margins, meaning it was exciting right up until the last starter took on the circuit.

The last starter happened to be David Will, who annihilated the thus-far leading time set by leading competitor Laura Renwick (GBR). He crossed the finish line in a time of 38.82 seconds with Mic Mac Du Tillard, the 16-year-old daughter of Cruising, and was the celebrated victor. “Mic Mac doesn’t always make it easy because of her intense fighting spirit. She makes up for that though”, stated the winner in praise of his horse.
